Through all my years of work, I have always been driven by helping others and providing a high level of service. I spent many years in the hospitality industry before completing my firefighter and paramedic training. In 2012, I moved across the prairies to Grande Prairie to pursue industrial firefighting. During down time on the job, I studied for my NCSO through ACSA which sparked my interest in health and safety.
As someone who appreciates being able to work at a fast pace, safety has kept me moving and challenged. It’s allowed me to build relationships (something I have enjoyed doing since my hospitality days) with our clients and their workers. Although safety can be many hurdles, it is rewarding knowing I can help make a difference in the workplace and help all kinds of workers come home safely.
In 2023, I completed my Occupational Health and Safety Certificate through the University of New Brunswick, with my goal now being to work towards my degree. Growth happens when you step out of your comfort zone – this mindset has led me through my career and even to my latest interests in public speaking and writing.
Being a creative person, I have many hobbies including sewing, making jewelry, and DIY projects around the house. When I need a recharge, mountain biking, camping and travel are first on the list. One of my favourite sites to visit was Machu Pichu back in 2013.
